Why did you choose accounting for your career? Why ACCA?

Accounting is a field that lets me go anywhere in the world and be confident I’ll be able to find good employment. ACCA is key in this, being an internationally recognised qualification with a strong network and brand recognition.

What field of work or study were you in before you started your ACCA exams?

Capital markets — I work in one of the world’s largest market makers in the Finance department. I have also spent time with operations teams and work with compliance, risk and development teams every day as well. Prior to that, I studied a Bachelor of Commerce with a minor in German in UCD.

Why did you choose Accountancy School?

I work with a group of chartered accountants, all of whom studied with Accountancy School, and all had great things to say. (All remember the tutors they had, even 10+ years on!)

What advice would you give to someone starting their ACCA journey?

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, make sure you’re understanding the content and you’re not regurgitating.

What is your career goal after gaining your ACCA qualification?

World domination — but I’ll settle for a role in FP&A, corporate finance or whatever else life throws at me.
