Two Louth students rank among world’s best in accountancy exams

Two Louth students are celebrating outstanding success after achieving top rankings in their Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations.

Drogheda’s Eimear Clarke finished first in Ireland and eighth in the world in the Advanced Taxation exam, while Dunleer’s Michael McKenna ranked first in Ireland and seventh globally in Strategic Business Leadership. Both are ACCA students with Dublin-based online college Accountancy School.

Their achievements come in the context of a worldwide ACCA student body of around 500,000, including approximately 8,000 students in Ireland. Eimear and Michael were among 28 Accountancy School students to secure first place in Ireland in their respective examinations. The students were recognised for their achievements at a recent awards ceremony in Dublin.

Congratulating them, Accountancy School Managing Director Dave O’Donoghue saidA CCA is a globally recognised qualification that opens the door to rewarding careers in accountancy and financial management. “At a time when employers world wide are actively seeking qualified accounting talent, ACCA trainees, affiliates and members continue to benefit from strong demand for their skills and excellent career prospects,” he said.
